The 6-day Masai Mara & Gorillas Safari is an extraordinary cross-border adventure that combines two of East Africa’s most iconic wildlife experiences into one unforgettable journey. Designed for travelers with limited time who want maximum impact, this safari blends classic savannah game viewing in Kenya with intimate primate encounters in Uganda.
The safari begins in Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve, world-famous for its vast open plains, abundant wildlife, and high concentration of big cats. Over several game drives, travelers explore the reserve in search of the Big Five, witness dramatic predator–prey interactions, and enjoy the sweeping landscapes that make the Mara one of Africa’s premier safari destinations. A cultural visit to a Maasai community adds a meaningful human connection to the experience, offering insight into traditional lifestyles and customs.
The journey then continues to Uganda, where the focus shifts from savannah to rainforest. In Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, travelers embark on a guided gorilla trekking experience, hiking through dense jungle to meet a habituated mountain gorilla family. Spending time with these gentle giants in their natural habitat is widely regarded as one of the most powerful wildlife encounters in the world.
Overall, the 6-day Masai Mara & Gorillas Safari offers a rare and perfectly balanced combination of classic African game drives, rich cultural interaction, and once-in-a-lifetime primate trekking. It is ideal for adventurous travelers seeking diversity, exclusivity, and unforgettable wildlife moments across two remarkable African destinations.
Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport or pick-up from your hotel in Nairobi, you are met by your safari guide and begin the drive to Masai Mara National Reserve. The journey takes you through the scenic Great Rift Valley, with brief stops for photography and refreshments. As you approach the reserve, the landscape opens into vast rolling savannahs teeming with wildlife. Arrival is in time for lunch at your lodge or camp, followed by an afternoon game drive where you may spot elephants, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and big cats beginning their evening activity. Dinner and overnight are at your lodge or tented camp in Masai Mara.
After an early breakfast, depart for a full-day game drive in the Masai Mara with packed lunch. The reserve is renowned for its high concentration of wildlife and offers excellent chances of seeing the Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino. You explore different areas of the park, including riverine habitats where hippos and crocodiles are commonly found. The open plains also provide opportunities to witness dramatic predator–prey interactions. After a picnic lunch in the bush, continue wildlife viewing until late afternoon before returning to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Begin the day with an early morning game drive to catch predators at their most active and enjoy the golden sunrise over the savannah. After breakfast, visit a traditional Maasai community to learn about their culture, customs, and way of life, including traditional dances and homestead visits. Later, depart Masai Mara and drive back to Nairobi, arriving in the late afternoon or evening. Overnight is at a hotel near the airport or in the city, depending on your flight schedule.
After breakfast, transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your flight to Entebbe, Uganda. Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you are met by your Ugandan safari guide who will help you to take your luggage and transfer to departures for your domestic flight to Bwindi. Upon arrival in Bwindi you will be met by our driver guide who will take you to the hotel for refreshments. Dinner and overnight
